The French translation of English texts on homosexuality is growing but still incomplete. This article introduces the texts that have been collected and translated in this special issue and traces through them the emergence of sociological research on homosexuality. Published between 1956 and 1968 in North America, these pioneering articles, largely unknown in France, opposed the then dominant view in the psychological or psychiatric literature and laid the groundwork for a constructionist approach to homosexuality. |
