According to data recently released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). In the year of 2016, at least one person in 64,7% of Brazilian households was connected to the Internet. As a means of propagating ideas, the World Wide Web provides a panoply of information on the most varied topics, including those related to history. In view of the changes brought about by the various characteristics intrinsic to the Internet, it is relevant to verify the connections between historical narratives and the media in question, that is, the mutations provoked in the field of history. For that, the narratives about the period called Brasil Colônia were privileged. The central problem was based on the following question: What are the historical narratives about Brazil Colônia spread on the Internet? Therefore, the research analyses both the quality and the historical narratives of the five most prominent websites on the subject, concluding that there is a great gap in relation to the current historiographic production. |
