Popis: | This article discusses the emergence of health promotion as biopower device, which operates through the medicalization of the population, health education, political economy and security. The article is based on an extract of part of a historical and documentary research, conducted as a doctoral thesis in Psychology. Michel Foucault’s studies on biopower helped us to analyze health promotion practices in their effects of knowledge and power, on an interaction of multiple forces. Prevention and health promotion put the bodies in a condition of rigorous and totalizing control of behavior, comprising a device. We conclude by stating that the salvation of health becomes a true religion today in a growing consumer market for social technologies, with the entrepreneurializement of life, in neoliberalism. |
