Popis: | Sarcoidosis and tuberculosis are both granulomatous diseases that may involve multiple systems but predominantly involve the lungs. Although both these diseases have different etiological factors and line of management, the clinical and histological characteristics are often similar. Owing to this, it can be difficult to make the distinction between the two, as occasionally they may coexist. Here, we present a case of a 21-year-old male patient who was initially diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis, but as symptoms increased, further evaluation revealed sarcoidosis. Diagnosis was supported by Gene Xpert, high-resolution computed tomography of the chest, and serum angiotensin-converting enzyme. The patient responded to antitubercular therapy and oral steroids. |
