The data on the anatomy and topography of the maxillary sinuses and their relationship with the parameters of the craniofacial region are presented. Their values for clinical practice are described. A systematic literature search was performed using PubMed, eLibrary, and HAC databases. Since the upper jaw is the object of surgical intervention by clinicians of various profiles, the success of surgical interventions on the upper jaw is largely determined by knowledge of the anatomy of this area. A review of the anatomy and topography of the maxillary sinuses, the features of the anatomical structure of its walls, its spatial location in the upper jaw and its relationship with other anatomical structures of the bones of the facial skull. It is noted that when planning and conducting surgical interventions on the upper jaw, it is necessary to take into account the individual characteristics of the parameters of the maxillary sinuses, depending on gender, age, features of the structure of the bones of the facial skull and under the control of the cone-beam tomography. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the choice of a certain type of surgical intervention depends on the clinical situation. However, given the lack of a unified point of view on the anatomy and topography of the maxillary sinuses, and the high practical significance of these anatomical formations for clinical practice, research in this area remains relevant. |
