Popis: By means of this article I try to describe diverse situations of nursing in Ecuador, which will help us to understand the differences and similarities between Ecuadorian and Spanish nursing, bearing in mind that, nursing in both countries has been, is and will continue to be a profession which interacts with other disciplines that care about health prevention, health follow-up and the rehabilitation of the individual, the family and the community. My paramount objective is to show Ecuadorian nursing - the type of education received at university; the model used to attend users, and the performance and development of community nurses, especially those registered in the PUC (Pontificia Universidad Católica) of Ecuador, sited in Esmeraldas.
