Popis:	Periodontal disease is a chronic disease with a complex etiology that includes bacterial colonization, excessive inflammation and oxidative stress. The hormone melatonin has antioxidant properties and could help alleviate chronic diseases by reducing stress. The aim of this study was to investigate and analyze the effect of exogenous melatonin on patients with periodontitis. More detailed studies are needed to expand the therapeutic possibilities of melatonin as a premedication in dentistry.
