This text discusses the relationship between society, education, gender violence and history teaching. Gender violence is also manifested through symbolic aspects which contribute to the reproduction of prejudices and to the practice of violent acts, especially against girls, women, homosexuals, transvestites, transsexuels and transgenders. In this context, the education and history teaching have a fundamental role. It is necessary to form new conceptions of world through education so that a social reality is transformed. History teaching can contribute to denaturalize models bound to gender and sexuality, evincingits cultural construction in different societies and different times. |
