In this paper, we demonstrate four different second-order Raman amplifier schemes which include first-order and second-order Raman pump. The amplifier performances are measured and verified in 300 km unrepeatered transmission systems without any remotely pump amplifier. Four amplifier schemes are analyzed and compared by the experimental method. The scheme of second-order pump forwardly and first-order pump backwardly gets the power budget of 68.5 dB and becomes the best choice. And the scheme of first-order pump forwardly and second-order pump backwardly is the worst case and similar to the situation of the conventional first-order Raman amplifier without any second-order pump. |
