Jean-Louis Genard introduced, through his reflections on culture and pragmatics, a broadening of these conceptions. In two of his books in particular, he shows how pragmatics must open up to a reconstruction of the symbolic structures of language activity, relying on a hermeneutics of the history of the use of pronominal designations, and how culture must be understood in a dialogic sense. These new orientations open up to what can be called a “cultural responsibility”, as this article aims to show by analyzing the original contributions of Jean-Louis Genard. |
