Popis: Abstract This resource is a simulation case featuring a 2-year-old male presenting with fever, irritability, and decreased oral intake. A physical exam reveals all the major criteria for Kawasaki disease; students must work up and initiate medical therapy for Kawasaki disease. Creating a simulation case for emergency medicine residents fosters a safe learning environment that allows them to become more familiar with various disease processes. This case introduces an important diagnosis in pediatric emergency medicine and challenges residents to use their clinical knowledge, physical exam skills, and communication skills to adequately care for the patient. Included is a PowerPoint lecture that is available as a 5-minute review of the teaching points for this case. It is designed to be shown to the participant after the case is finished to reinforce the learning objectives of the case. While this case was created for intern-level emergency medicine residents, it can be administered to more novice learners, such as medical students, as its primary emphasis is a detailed history and physical exam.
