In the present study, the crude polysaccharides from Ribes stenocarpum Maxim. (RPs) were isolated by ultrasonic-assisted extraction. The physicochemical analysis revealed that RPs is a pyranose configuration connected by β-glycosidic bonds without three-stranded helical conformation, and is composed of mannose, ribose, glucuronic acid, galactose, glucose, arabinose, galacturonic acid, and xylose with a molecular weight of 44,200 Da. Furthermore, the animal experimental results demonstrated that RPs could significantly prolong the forced swimming time of mice, increase the liver glycogen and muscle glycogen levels, up-regulate the activities of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in mice, and reduce the blood urea nitrogen (BUN), lactic acid (LD), and malondialdehyde (MDA) contents. The above results suggested that RPs could effectively reduce the oxidative stress response of mice during strenuous exercise and exert significant anti-fatigue activity. |
