Popis: In the south Argentine frontier with the indians, the topic of food as a contact or discovery point has been widely documented and studied in travel accounts to the Inland in the 19th century. At that time, captivity narratives was confussed and mixed within travel accounts. This group of texts, written by captives of the indians on Argentinian territory, that I have achieved to gather throughout my research, have porven to be highly complex with two structures of different discursive levels: the one of alienation and the one of belonging. Food is one of the main elements in the process of trasculturation of an individual to another culture, as well as clothing, accommodation and climate endurance. That is to say, it is the satisfaction or adjustment of the most basic necessities what allows the individual to adapt to a new way of life. However, in a deeper sense, it is the approach to food and the ways of cooking it that is essential to the configuration of the Other, their life style and the place they inhabit.
