Popis: Permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) have been widely used in various applications such as robotics, electric vehicles, and aerospace due to their fast dynamic response, high-power/torque density, and high efficiency. These features make them attractive candidates for aeronautical applications, where the weight and volume of onboard systems are critically important. This paper aims to provide an overview of recent developments in PMSMs. Key design considerations for aeronautical PMSMs across different applications are highlighted based on the analysis of industrial cases and research literature. Additionally, emerging techniques that are vital in enhancing the performance of aeronautical PMSMs are discussed.
