Popis:	The demographic challenge for agricultural development in Africa is often read through Malthus or Boserup lenses. Social dynamics are omitted into this framework. To tackle this issue, an approach articulating systemic concept from Comparative agriculture and Economic anthropology is proposed and applied in a territory in Northern Sierra Leone. The so-called “demographic pressure” cannot explain alone labour intensification and loss of fertility. Regional economic integration and changing inter-generational relations play a great part in these two trends as well as in the forms they may take in a local configuration.
