Popis: The plasmid-encoded MCR-1 enzyme modifies bacterial lipid A, thus conferring resistance to the antibiotic colistin. Here, Yang et al. show that MCR-1 expression can decrease in vitro growth rate, fitness and immune stimulation, and can reduce virulence in a Galleria mellonella infection model.
