Illustrated novel for young readers, Le chant du troll, by Pierre Bottero and Gilles Francescano, tells the journey of a young girl, Léna, who gradually leaves the world of the living to enter a different realm. Due to a mysterious “tipping point”, the child witnesses the city she lived in being overrun by nature. This vegetal overgrowth, which creates cracks in several spaces, is meaningful, representing the inner turmoil of the characters, particularly that of Léna. As her city progressively fractures, the young girl ultimately finds salvation in a magical city. We will study these different spaces – urban, natural, and wondrous – through the prism of a symbolic analysis, revealing the mirror game of this work. |
