Popis: In the Morisco prophecies of the late sixteenth century, the most incredible elements are integrated into collective narratives heralding a recovery of Andalusian Islam. The prophetic tales of the Arabic manuscript 774 kept at the BNF show a use of the unheard specific to the situation of the Morisco community and raise the question of the role of contingency in the elaboration of this type of tales. Resulting from a particularly difficult context, the two prophecies studied are based on a certain number of literary strategies that make it possible to place contingency in a broader context. The impotence of the crypto-Muslims in relation to Spanish Catholic power is thus reinterpreted, serving as a basis for a reflection on a collective identity detached from genealogical issues. Islam is no longer seen as a mark of belonging to a community fully aware of its fragility, but as a religion that includes Catholics, presented as « unconscious Muslims » who are only misled by contingent elements that will soon be overturned.
