The present work has the objective of determining the economic viability of a pilot plant for obtaining the vegetable oil of Moringa oleifera Lam. With the design of this installation, it will be possible to replace a raw material used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry, as well as to use it for the production of biodiesel. The dimensions of the process equipment were calculated. The economic analysis was carried out using three dynamic indicators, Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return and Period of Return. It was considered the plant with an annual production capacity of 150 m3 , operated 24 days a month, for 11 months a year. It is concluded that the plant is economically viable because its Net Present Value is positive with a value of USD $ 13.3 million, besides that a value of the Internal Rate of Return of 37% and the Recovery Period of the Investment is 1.9 years, which indicates that the project can be executed satisfactorily. |
