Popis: | In this article the authors pit a pluralistic vision of science, open to non-scholarly regimes of truth, against an objectivist, truth-laden vision. They present an epistemological, theoretical, ethical, and political argument for an alternative to the dominant mode of scientific writing and identify the obstacles to such a shift, the resources deployed, and the resistance to change. The authors question how research is conducted in relation to minorities, with an emphasis on the place and role of individuals in research, the legitimacy of ordinary knowledge, and shifts in relationships of power. They analyze the role of writing, its transformative power when it advocates for minorities. They also explore the collective and individual, institutional and subjective criteria that are prerequisites for such transformation. |
