Popis: The article examines the marginal type of personality in the novel of R. Senchin. “Yoltyshevs”. The author continues traditions of Russian classical literature and “village prose” and refers to the theme of the “little man” in post-Soviet Russia. The plot is based on the disintegration of home, family and personality, the marginalization of the human nature itself and significant part of society. The characters of the novel have lost their standards of traditional civilization, and the true urban culture remained alien to them. Yoltyshevs have become marginals both in the city and in the country. The position “outside of the culture” led them to destruction.
