Popis:	The article studies the question of the Khazar fortress Sarkel, known from Byzantine written sources, correspondence to the chronicle “grad” and the White Vezha. The texts of medieval written sources, which may be relevant to the raised problem, have been studied and analysed. The hypothesis of the Sarkel fortress and the chronicle “grad” identity is proposed. At the same time, Belaya Vezha is considered as an important fortification object like a tower, a palace on the “Grad” territory.
