Popis: | The purpose of this article is analysing the representation of the cultural heritage of Marajoara Amazon in the period of the Rubber Boom (1870-1912), especially with regards to the constructions and the displacements in urban spaces of the municipalities of Marajó dos Campos and Marajó das Florestas. The main problem was trying to understand what public inheritance in Marajoara cities originated in the famous Rubber Boom in the Amazon. To understand this issue, our research embarked in a dialogue with two types of sources: a) scholars specialised in the study of the Rubber Boom, of the heritage, of memory and identity; b) reports by chroniclers, travellers and journalists who collected information on Majoara urban life, with an attention to buildings, habits, coexistences and tensions, between the last decades of 19th century and the first two decades of the 20th century. |
