Objective: Circumcision in patients with hemophilia is a controversial issue in medical professionals and it is affected from place of residence with different social, cultural and religious beliefs. Materials (Subjects) and Methods: In this study circumcision of 20 hemophiliac children were described with the familial approach to circumcision. All of the patients were circumcised by surgical technique after factor replacement and parents were evaluated with a questionnaire. Most of them thought that circumcision is an essential procedure in socio-cultural, psychological and religious aspects in Gaziantep, a city in southeast region of Turkey. Results: All of the patients were circumcised succesfully and most of the parents (between % 85-100) worry in religious and social aspects like exclusion, prevention and disabilities for their children as being non-circumcised. Conclusion: Circumcision is an essential procedure even in hemophilia in sociocultural, psychological and religious aspects in Gaziantep, a city in southeast region of Turkey for the patients and families. As being specialists for these patients we should perform the procedure with a team including surgeon, laboratory and hematologist to overheld these issues. |
