Popis: The Kerkennah archipelago coasts in Tunisia, and especially those of the Sidi Fonkhal peninsula, are known to be fragile and vulnerable to sea erosion. A regional scale touristic project will be created in Sidi Fonkhal. The aim of this study is to understand the coherence between (i) a technical knowledge with a diachronic coastline evolution study between 1963 and 2010, (ii) a local knowledge, with questionnaires and (iii) the facilities planned for Sidi Fonkhal. The results show two types of coastal evolution: (i) 54.2% of the coast remained stable (the evolution doesn’t exceed ±6 meters) and (ii) 44.8% of the coast is eroded up to 38.8 meters. The questionnaire results show that 98% of the interrogated population noticed the coastal erosion around the archipelago. The local scale results are consistent but those conclusions don’t seem to always be taken into account for the tourism project. Taking better account of local knowledge will help to better planned projects at the regional level.
