Popis: | Objectives. The article discusses the issue of acute chemical poisonings were registered during 2016-2019 and mainly caused by improper handling and storage of chemicals. The purpose of this paper is the hygienic estimation of the risks for the health of the population, associated with priority chemical substances/mixtures in the Republic of Moldova. Materials and methods. Data from statistical Form 18-san. „Statistical report on state surveillance and control of public health in the district, municipality”, as well as the data from statistical Form 360-1/e "Register of persons with acute non-professional exogenous poisonings of chemical etiology" and the results of laboratory investigations of food of plant origin carried out according to the National Program for monitoring pesticide residues and nitrate content in said products. Results. A total of 9634 poisonings were registered during 2016-2019, including 186 deaths (1.9%). Among the children, 3719 cases of acute poisoning were registered, of which 20 children died (10.7%). Depending on the chemical that generated the poisoning, predominated those with drugs (3479 cases), alcohol (2579 affected), followed by gases (1386 intoxicated people), pesticides (514 cases), paint vapors (63 affected) and nitrates (45 cases). Conclusions. Proper management of chemical substances/mixtures is essential to reduce/avoid their impact, including prevention of poisonings among the population, caused by free access, incorrect storage, repackaging of products in confusing containers with water, food, non-compliance with the label, ignoring use of personal protective equipment, etc. |
