The research carried out aims to identify trends in sustainable economic development by analyzing the correlation between fiscal policy, public debt, budgetary deficit, collected revenues and budget expenditures. The statistical analysis highlighted a model that demonstrates the influences exerted by the independent variables on economic growth. The ultimate goal is to provide an empirical framework for improving tax policy, considering the reduction of tax evasion, the increase of voluntary payment compliance and the assurance of sustainable economic development in Romania. The obtained results demonstrated that there is a positive correlation between government spending, public debt, budget deficit and gross domestic product, as well as the fact that Romania applied a procyclical fiscal policy. |
