The Study Outcome of Bouquet Technique for the Management of Displaced Boxer's Fracture

| Popis: | Introduction: Fifth metacarpal neck fracture is also called Boxer's fracture. Most commonly, it occurs due to aggressive behaviour that results in a punch on a wall with a clenched fist. If 0 a boxer's fracture is displaced more than 50 then it has to be managed surgically. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of the bouquet technique in treatment of the cases of fifth metacarpal neck fracture. Methodology: The present study was conducted on 80 cases of fifth metacarpal neck fracture that were managed by bouquet technique. Clinical and radiological assessment were done at 4 weeks, 6 weeks, and 12 weeks. Total active motion, radiography, and complications were noted. Results: Out of the total 80 participants, 72 exhibited excellent results and 8 fair results. One patient developed an infection and two developed adventitious bursitis at the entry site which required K-wire removal. Conclusion: The technique of antegrade intramedullary three Kirschners wire in management of fifth metacarpal neck fracture is safe, simple, soft tissue sparing, minimally invasive technique with excellent functional and cosmetic outcome and minimal complications. |
