The unequal distribution of cultural and retail facilities has greatly modified our perception of what defines urban space in both the town center and in its outskirts. But today, despite the proactive efforts of urban policy makers to reshuffle the cards, new hybrids of culture and retail have superseded the more traditional forms. A field study conducted in the East of Paris and its vicinity, encompassing first a study of the shared history of this territory, before turning towards the role of culture in “éco-quartier de culture et de commerce” (Aubervilliers, 2011-2014), will aim at showing the consequences of this change. |
