| Popis: | The relevance of the study is caused by the importance of evaluation of various social phenomena within the information society. Archive just acts as such phenomenon which nature and functions undergo major restructuring in recent deformations of socio-cultural systems. That is why the experience and philosophical conceptualization of the archive in the information society is important. The objective of the study is to understand the role and the place of archive within the information society and to express the main functional processes caused by the specified changes. Methods: method of explication, structural-functional method. Results: The author has considered the archive, as well as its transformations within the information society establishment. The paper introduces the main characteristics of the Information Society; the challenges caused by the process of information relative to the archival work were estimated. The author comes to the conclusion that the file in the information society obtains "extensive" (non-traditional) interpretation, which is a certain threat to its traditional functions: ideological, social, memorial. The conclusion was made that the information society can preserve the traditional and non-traditional functions of the archive. |
