Popis: During the interwar period, the proliferation of the mass media generated a significant change in the way states deployed their communication strategies. Simultaneously and almost paradoxically, citizens had more channels to assert their rights to receive accurate information, while governments intensified their efforts to control what they listened to, read and saw. Bearing in mind that general context, I summarize and discuss some of the latest historiography on how the Portuguese dictator, Salazar, interacted with the national and foreign media.
