Popis:	This paper aims to show how the authors and scriptwriters of the popular American TV series How I Met Your Mother managed to create humor by resorting to lexical creation and linguistic creativity strategies. My aim is to highlight how the various linguistic techniques at work intertwine to result in the characterization of a fictional character, namely Barney Stinson, while expressing humor.
