The article highlights the dominated position that French secondary school supervisors assume in the division of educational work. It does this by analysing the content of their tasks as well as the different ways in which they appropriate it, subsequently revealing that their dominated position is determined by two categories of tasks (administrative and disciplinary) that account for the vast majority of their daily education work. The demonstration is also made that supervisors’ position will also be shaped by the various ways that they juggle said tasks, which they may choose to accept and/or redefine – or, instead, to distance themselves from by developing margins of autonomy, notwithstanding the continuation in this latter case of their dominated status. |
