Popis: This article focuses on the pastoral eclogue, a tradition of the early Spanish drama, at the beginning of the Castilian theater. The Égloga primera de Carnaval (Juan del Encina, 1493) and the Égloga of Francisco de Madrid (1495) show mutual influences and connections. As pieces of the same genre, they contain an allegoric frame, propagandistic goals and ‘sayagués’ language, the rustic dialect, as it is common in Virgil and in the Renaissance’s pastoral; actually, this kind of work deals with the official pacifist discourse of Ferdinand and Isabella.
