ASPECTUAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TURKISH VERB

| Popis: | In spite of long traditions in the study of the specific characteristics of the Turkish verb, the grammatical category of aspectuality continues to be debatable and deserves the closest attention of linguists. In the works of turkologists, one can find a variety of interpretations of the status of verb forms, conjugated with aspectual meaning. The analysis is aimed at revealing the aspectual characteristics of the Turkish verb within the functional-semantic category of aspectuality, synthesizing the views of famous linguists-turkologists and the own observations. The methodological basis of the study is the dialectical principle of the unity of form and content in its two most essential hypostases: semasiological and onomasiological. Results. The article concludes that the functional role of the morphological category of the aspect and the lexical-grammatical category of the aktionsart are identical, since both of these categories are united by their aspectual orientation. At the same time, one should not forget about their significant difference: the obligatory spread of the morphological category of the aspect to almost the whole paradigm of verbal conjugation and the optional nature of this requirement for the lexical-grammatical category of aktionsart. Practical implications. The results of the analysis can find application in everyday didactic processes contributing to the improvement of the teaching methods of the relevant sections of the theoretical and practical grammar of the Turkish language. |
