| Popis: | Purpose. The present article deals with certain most common difficulties of translating scientific and technical texts as well as ways to achieve adequacy and equivalence of translation of the terms from Russian into Bashkir in the development of a multivolume encyclopedia in the Bashkir language. The peculiarities of translation of technical terms into the Bashkir language have been insufficiently studied so far: at present there are neither special dictionaries nor glossaries, etc. The author aims to study scientific and technical terms as well as ways of translating them. Methodology. The basis of the research is the method of generalizing language facts and the comparative method. Results. In the process of the research the main ways of translation of technical terms into Bashkir are identified and analyzed, i.e. borrowing, calquing, literal and descriptive translation. In addition, peculiarities of using each way of translation have been determined. The author concludes that it is necessary to combine those ways of translation. Practical implications. The results of the study can be applied in compiling terminological dictionaries, translating the technical documentation into the Bashkir language. |
