Popis: | As the importance of sustainable regional development increases, one matter that might become an issue is how to recover from events that have a negative impact on tourism demand, such as natural disasters, including earthquakes and infectious diseases. In this study, we focused on the concentration of tourism demand that a destination receives in the normal period and investigated its relationship with tourism demand resilience in the face of negative events, with the aim of gaining insight into future marketing policies in tourism destinations. In this study, we defined the concentration of tourism demand based on the number of overnight guests by nationality and examined its relationship with destination resilience in recent earthquake disasters in Japan and during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the relationship between the dependency of inbound tourism and resilience proposed in a previous study was not supported, a certain relationship between the concentration and resilience proposed in this study was suggested at the 10% significance level. |
