Popis: | Inside the infirmaries of the monasteries of Mexico City during the 16 to 18 centuries the nuns and brothers received medical attention. This was in the hands of barbers, phlebotomists and long robe and short robe surgeons. The foundation and evolution of the monasteries is the institutional frame that made possible the function of surgeons in two different social organizations: the occupational statement and the scientific community. The knowledge of surgeon’s personal activities has been the frame from which the general interpretation on conclusions has been possible. |
