Popis: | Leiomyosarcomas of the inferior vena cava are rare tumours and are often not diagnosed till advanced stage. They usually present with non-specific symptoms. Surgical resection offers the best option for reasonable survival. Improvements in major vascular resections, prosthetic reconstructions and advancements in perioperative care have vastly improved results. The thrombosis of vascular grafts does not mean necessarily a poor outcome. We report a case of inferior vena cava leiomyosarcoma in which en bloc resection of the vessel involved with tumour was done and was reconstructed with a prosthetic graft. At 5-month follow-up the patient was doing well without any clinically detectable signs or symptoms. |
