This article reviews the molecular mechanism of iron metabolism covering iron absorption,transportation,utilization and storage with focus on the key proteins involved in iron metabolism and elaborate regulation factors. Based on these results of research it might be able to provide some new strategies to find potential biomarkers of iron metabolism to support early and correct diagnosis. What's more, a clear mechanism may also provide a breakthrough point for the targeted treatment of iron metabolism disorders in future. |
