Issues of Professional Adaptation in Young Teachers

Popis: The article discusses some problems of professional adaptation of beginning teachers. Based on the questionnaire data, conducted among beginning and experienced teachers of educational institutions in 6 districts of the Russian Federation (490), and interviews with the school administration the authors analyze the difficulties encountered by beginning teachers, evaluate the existing forms of support for them, as well as their satisfaction with the system of professional adaptation. Often the novice teacher experiences difficulties in obtaining documentation and reporting, problems with monitoring pupils' attention, difficulties in the application of an individual approach. Currently being implemented in most schools set of measures for entry into the profession cannot be considered sufficient to ensure high level of adaptation of young teachers. However, young teachers in general positively appreciate the existing support system in their schools, especially the "assistance of experienced colleagues in the professional adaptation."
