In 1987, Empúries published Obra Poètica 1959-1983 by Miquel Bauçà (Felanitx, 1940 – Barcelona, 2005). The volume included a new unpublished version of Una bella història, a collection originally released in 1962 and rewritten in heptasyllabic verse in 1985. Nonetheless, this new version did not replace the earlier one, which was also included in the same volume; rather, both versions were treated as two separate pieces of work. This article aims to compare the two versions of Una bella història, analysing the differences and uncovering the devices behind this rewriting (especially the transformation of the free verse poems from 1962 into non-rhyming metred verse). Moreover, it attempts to discern the reasons that led the poet to rewrite his collection, as well as to formulate questions arising from the existence of two different versions of the same work both enjoying author approval. |
