Popis: Electroencephalography (EEG) is a useful method for examination of patients with several types of neurological disorders, including cerebral ischemia, encephalopathy and etc. Quantitative or computerized techniques, referred to as a quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG), have been developed to assist in improving of EEG interpretation process. The quantitative approach can display progressive changes in neurophysiological function over time. Computer-analyzed EEG studies indicates: drugs with similar psychotropic activities (for example, antidepressants, anxiolytics) have similar QEEG profiles. This allows the prediction of untested new drugs’ clinical activities and promotes psychotropic drugs’ development. The characteristic features of nootropics-induced EEG changes includes an increase of α- and β-rhythms power and reduction of Δ-rhythm power. The EEG indices of drug nootropic activity are the most obvious in cerebral vascular diseases.
