Abstract The metaverse has been a topic of much discussion and speculation in recent years, particularly within the fields of technology and gaming. This paper defines the metaverse and explores its ontology and model building. The potential impact of the metaverse on various sectors, including tourism and education, is examined, along with the risks that must be considered when using metaverse technologies. The paper stresses the importance of user experience and navigation in immersive virtual tourism, and the need to ensure cybersecurity and privacy. It also highlights the importance of responsible development and deployment of metaverse technologies. Interdisciplinary research, collaboration, and a cautious approach are necessary to understand and minimize the potential risks and ensure user safety. By doing so, the metaverse can offer innovative solutions to challenges in different fields. |
