Popis: | The aim of this paper is to analyse a) the logic and functioning of scientific publishing as a global figuration and b) the researcher model underlying this figuration. Scientific publishing is a phenomenon which involves researchers, universities, research institutions, the State, publishing houses, and scientific information and indexation companies, their internal connections and their balances of power. At the same time, a discourse exists which legitimizes scientific publishing in accordance with particular criteria on internationalization, dissemination, and recognition and which prescribes a model of behaviour. Finally, the article reflects on the consequences of this discourse in terms of the production, distribution, and utilization of knowledge in a semi‑peripheral country such as Portugal. |
