Popis: Cellulose waste was considered as a natural polymer with good biocompatibility, biodegradability, non-toxicity, which has been extensively employed in sensor research. The advantages of cellulose waste for substrate particularly in terms of portability, sensibility and cost effectiveness provided the high demand of electronic device manufacturing. Utilization of cellulose waste as a substrate in sensor was classified into various sectors such as colorimetric and electrochemical sensors. From the fundamental point of view, cellulose was successfully prepared from either agricultural or municipal waste. It was remarkable to note that purified cellulose can be employed as a platform of disposable substrate. It can be effectively replaced the traditional substrate which is commonly prepared from flat glass sheet. The interest of utilization of cellulose waste was considered as an eco-friendly process. It has given rise to a novel generation of green technology. Herein, an overview of circular economy aspect of cellulose waste, background of cellulose, surface functionalization and development of cellulose-based composite, potential and application of cellulose were therefore presented aiming to significantly provide the meaningful roadmap of cellulose waste for working as a substrate for colorimetric and electrochemical sensors. Then the economic viewpoint will be described. Finally, we purposed the current challenges and future prospects of cellulose based chemical sensors bringing the high value in the near future.
