Popis: At the turn of the 1980’s, in the context of triumphant neoliberalism and demonetization of classical models of development, a new cognitive framework has progressively emerged in the Caribbean. It refers to the notion of sustainable development. The scope of the latter has been continuously expanded to related issues such as the loss and the preservation of biodiversity and, more recently, global changes. As a result, the political use of sustainable development, which is a set of interacting and evolving issues, is proving more and more complex, due to the very fragmented nature of public action and the difficult appropriation of this set of issues by actors and people.
