Popis: | Performing helping profession has been connected to higher perceived stress. The aim of this study is to describe and compare representative selected sample of Slovak social service professionals (N = 729) with US norms. Slovak and American sample did not differ significantly in the average level of stress assessed by Perceived stress scale (Cohen, Kamarck, Mermelstein, 1983). However, the average level of summarized job satisfaction assessed by Job satisfaction scale (Spector, 1985) was significantly lower in Slovak population of social service professionals (Hedges’ g = 0.21). In addition, the level of performed self-care activities was measured by Questionnaire of performed self-care in the helping professions (VSS2, Lichner, Halachová, Lovaš, 2018). Results suggest that higher performed self-care is related to lower perceived stress and higher job satisfaction. The moderation analysis suggests that performing self-care may protect from development of stress. |
