Popis: The article highlights some points of study of phraseological units which contain toponyms in etymologic aspect, the diversity of their origin and the correlation of phraseological units with culture and way of life of the English. Some important points in toponyimic phraseological units interpretation are revealed, that is important in the work with texts in Britain country studying course.Toponymic phraseological units make one of large groups, that is why the proper interpretation of toponimyc element is a condition to decode all the phraseological unit. These phraseological units which cannot be translated idiomatically create more problems, since the original value in translation together with all possible connotations must be saved, at the same time, the equivalent of translation must answer a context and be expressive, as the original phraseological unit is. Phraseological unit often fully or partly loses the value through cultural limits. It is also reflected in translation, where not all refined nuances of value can be expressed. Thus, a study of phraseological units is a contribution to the concept of cultural differences in the course of country studying.
