This article introduces Agata Messia, a Sicilian, nineteenth-century, female story teller, including a compilation of thirteen tales from Messia’s wide corpus,. These have been translated into Spanish keeping the - strongly oral- linguistic characteristics, that are typical of Messia’s (oral) story telling. Each tale is critically annotated, including and expansion ofPietrè’s notes, with new comments and parallelisms. Whenever it is possible, Messia’s tale is ascribed to the corresponding folk type. |
